Character Classes
Here on Pokemon Celes, we have a class system that determines the capabilities of your character and by extension, their pokemon. On character creation, you can choose to have your character be a Trainer or a Breeder. Trainers and Breeders each have their own perks as well as disadvantages. Remember, you can have more than one character, so don't be worried about not being able to do everything. Their also exist a handful of subclasses. The main Subclasses are Ranger, Team Nova, Professor, Gym Leader, Elite Four, and Champion. You can start as a Ranger or Team Nova member, but the other Subclasses must be obtained in-character and will require time and effort to acquire. Regardless of class, all characters start with a pokedex and are limited to six pokemon in their party. You are allowed a maximum of three characters
Trainers
Trainers are pretty much just like their video game counterparts. The goal of a trainer is to travel the region(s), catch pokemon, battle other trainers, collect badges, and become the Champion. As a trainer, a character will receive more credits than normal for winning battles. Trainers can never own a ranch and can never breed pokemon, though may still offer their own pokemon to a breeder to breed for them. Trainers are the only characters that can ever challenge the Elite Four. Trainers are the only class able to become a Gym Leader, Elite Four member, or the Champion. Trainers cannot become Professors. Trainers start with a single pokemon from the allowed starters list. You can have as many trainers as you want, up to the character maximum. However, only one trainer can be a Gym Leader/Elite Four Member/The Champion.
Breeders
Breeders are similar to their video game counterparts. The goal of a breeder is to raise lots of pokemon. They tend to travel only to obtain rare pokemon for the purpose of breeding. They cannot participate in gym battles without first purchasing a Gym Pass. As a breeder, a character will receive credits for winning battles at a normal rate, but will also receive points for breeding. Breeders cannot breed until they have enough credits to obtain a ranch. Breeders are unable to become a Gym Leader, Elite Four member, or the Champion. Breeders are the only class that can become Professors. Breeders start with two pokemon from the allowed starters list, so long as they are in unrelated egg groups. You can only have one breeder.
